| | [Jusis has been restless for three months. Anxious in his isolation and the alarming things he can barely glean from the maids but not enough to put a whole picture together. He's tried to escape multiple times now. His first attempt got the furthest, and subsequently he's been monitored more closely, and had less success. He's not desperate to leave, but he kind of is, too. He wants to contact his friends, he wants to know what in the world is going on, but he trusts Rufus, ultimately, and so none of his chafing at the confinement has been too much. It's a relief when he sees Rufus, but also he feels an uncertainty in his stomach. It's been three months and he's still under arrest for false charges, and the isolation, the gag order on information from the outside world--no matter how much he trusts his brother that sits very badly with him. He's concerned. He's anxious. And yet he's also still, happy to see the person who's always been a focal point of his life. He even gets up from his seat to greet him, smiling shyly because he can be upset but still happy. It's conflicting.] Brother. You're finally back. |
| | [It's reassuring, and it's easy to feel some of his anxiety and tension lessen just being near his brother. It's not gone though, certainly, but even the embarrassing headpat is comforting.] I'm happy to hear that. Can I assume this ridiculous situation is soon to be resolved? [No one tells him anything, so he can only assume, trust, that Rufus has been working to help him out of this stupid confinement and stupid isolation order.] |
| | What do you mean? [He isn't a dumb person, but his trust for his brother is rather blinding. He simply isn't considering anything sinister from that statement--at least, not sinister with Rufus. The statement itself is alarming.] |
| | ["Seen to?" Optimistically, that would be prison, he supposes. He's not thinking eliminated. He's still.. Look, Rufus is the single most important person in his life, though some of his friends have certainly gotten to the point he would consider them just as important, but Rufus is still his brother so his suspicion of him is... Only a vague nagging bad feeling. Rufus is just being protective and oddly unreasonable, it's nothing that they can't work through.] Indefinitely? I can't remain here forever brother, if my name's been cleared I would like to continue with my life. I'm happy to see you, I would love to spend the week with you, but I really think I should contact my friends and let them know how I'm doing. |
| | [Well. Alarm bells are ringing now. Far too late. But he still refuses to believe them yet, despite the wrench of sick uncertainty under his heart. He goes still, not pulling away from Rufus's touch but very much confused and unsure of it. The words are more pressing.] What do you mean? |
| | [This is. This is... His brain wants to deny what's happening. His heart certainly isn't accepting it. He's staring at Rufus in shock.] Rufus... [He can't be hearing this correctly. Our plan. Obstacles. Where is the kind brother he's looked up to all his life? That's the smile he knows but there's a look in Rufus's eyes that scares him. He still can't accept what his dread is telling him though. Removed could have many meanings, even though he knows, he knows it only has one.] What are you talking about? |
| | [He doesn't think to struggle, frozen and stunned. The precaution might be necessary in a bit but right now he's just making very distressed and confused faces and trying not to cry.] Brother? [His voice sounds small even to his own ears.] |
| | [He squirms, trying to get away from the touch but completely unsuccessful. His head is bowed forward and he is losing the battle with keeping his distress and near tears out of his voice. Never really had a chance at being on the winning end of that battle, anyway.] Why? [It's whispered, because stop isn't working and if nothing else he wants to understand.] Why are you doing this? [Even the murder he can understand from a ruthless political view, but why this? Why like this? If his brother had come to him six months ago, or longer even, if Rufus hadn't started this after admitting to madness and pushed Jusis against a desk to strip and tease him he couldn't say for sure he would have rejected Rufus at all. He's not even rejecting this as strongly as he should, though he's rejecting it pretty strongly. He still feels too excited by the touch, by his brother's voice, only it comes with a lot of fear and distress that he never wanted to feel.] |
